With a new school year approaching, many teens will be heading off to their first year of college. Whether living away or commuting, the first few weeks on campus are extremely critical for new students as they acclimate to a new environment, new people, new rules and the increased independence and responsibility that come along with college.
Feelings of stress and anxiety are common during any life change, but ways to help make the transition to college a happy and successful one include:
- Attending all orientations to familiarize yourself with available resources
- Joining organizations or clubs of interest-read bulletin boards for news
- Keeping organized
- Going to class regularly and taking notes
- Finding a balance between academic responsibilities and social engagements
