Pompton Plains, NJ - May 3, 2007 - NewBridge Services, Inc., a nonprofit provider of behavioral health and education programs and services, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from North Fork Foundation to fund its affordable housing development initiative.

"This latest award from North Fork will help tremendously in furthering our mission to provide affordable housing in Morris and Passaic counties," said Robert L. Parker, Executive Director, NewBridge. "We are grateful to North Fork for recognizing the value and taking a leadership role in assisting the mission of affordable housing in New Jersey."

The $10,000 award was one of 10 capacity building grants presented by North Fork Foundation to support the affordable housing work of New Jersey-based nonprofit organizations. The $10,000 grants will enable recipients to increase their ability to create or preserve affordable housing options for low- and moderate-income New Jersey residents.

"The high cost of housing in New Jersey poses challenges for residents across the state, but that challenge is especially acute for low and moderate income residents struggling to find decent, safe, affordable housing in this market," said Stacey Cooper, Vice President of the North Fork Foundation. "Nonprofit housing developers are dedicated to serving this segment of the housing market and we are proud that the Foundation is able to help these community-based organizations meet those needs."

Responding to the statewide effort to combat the state's housing crisis, NewBridge has taken an active role in providing affordable housing opportunities for those with disabilities, particularly those with special needs, as well as those with moderate and low incomes. NewBridge's community-based housing program includes a continuum of services from residential care to lease-based affordable housing opportunities.
