State Association Recognizes NewBridge as New Jersey's Outstanding Provider
Nonprofit recognized for dedication, consumer satisfaction, extraordinary contributions
Robert L. Parker, Executive Director, NewBridge, and William Eckert, NewBridge Board President, accept the 2008 Outstanding Provider award from Debra Wentz, Ph.D, Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health Agencies. NewBridge received the award at NJAMHA's annual Courage and Compassion Awards Dinner on April 22.
For the past 45 years, NewBridge Services has been serving the residents of Morris and Passaic counties. This year, the agency has been selected by the New Jersey Association of Mental Health Agencies (NJAMHA), the statewide trade association, as 2008's Outstanding Provider.
"NewBridge's ability to continuously develop innovative programs and services, stellar consumer satisfaction, collaboration and staff development epitomize the traits we sought to honor," said Debra Wentz, Ph.D, Chief Executive Officer, NJAMHA. "We are grateful and New Jersey is better served thanks to the extraordinary work NewBridge does on behalf of residents in need."
With 31 locations, NewBridge served more than 10,000 men, women and children last year alone through counseling, youth programs, senior services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and housing.
"NewBridge continues to keep its finger on the pulse of the community and offer the programs and services that are most needed. We are proud to see this hard work, dedication and desire to help be recognized by such a prestigious organization, and accept this award on behalf of the excellent work by our staff to help people move forward in life," said Robert L. Parker, Executive Director, NewBridge. "With 200 staff members and 31 locations, NewBridge is proud to say its staff consistently provides the highest quality of care across the board."
In addition to NewBridge's ongoing programs, the agency has recently added new service offerings, including caregiver respite and counseling for Morris County residents and an Intensive Outpatient Program for substance abuse in Wayne, NJ. NewBridge's affordable housing initiative has also begun its second year in a five-year plan to create 100 new units of affordable housing.
"NewBridge has dedicated its resources to improving the lives of individuals with mental illness, undertaking innovative programming, providing a supportive work environment and serving as a leader in the provision of affordable housing," said Wentz. "Its impact on helping consumers on their road to recovery is clear."
NewBridge will be honored at the NJAMHA Courage and Compassion Awards Dinner on April 22,2008, the first evening of NJAMHA's two-day annual conference. NJAMHA's Courage and Compassion Awards recognize the extraordinary work and commitment of New Jersey's nonprofit community mental health care providers and the front-line employees who are dedicated to serving individuals with mental illness. This year, in addition to NewBridge Services, NJAMHA will honor six outstanding employees from around the state.
NJAMHA is comprised of the leading mental health care providers who treat residents with mental illness and their families. Its membership represents organizations in every county and almost every community statewide, and its members help children and adults with mental health issues more than 1 million times annually and employ 85,000 members of the state's workforce. Through advocacy, education, training, mutual support, development of key partnerships and a variety of services, NJAMHA assists agencies committed to improving the availability and quality of mental health services throughout the state.
