NewBridge Offers Suicide Prevention Training For Teachers
NJ State Board of Education mandates two-hour training in all public schools

POMPTON PLAINS, NJ- August 15, 2006 - NewBridge Services, a nonprofit provider of behavioral health and education programs and services, is offering suicide prevention training to school staff, in response to the New Jersey State Board of Education's recent mandate that all public school teaching staff complete two hours of suicide prevention training.

"People contemplating suicide often show warning signs and if teachers learn to recognize these signs, they may be able to help save lives," said Michele Iannucci, Director of Prevention Services, NewBridge. "For more than 15 years, NewBridge has been teaching students, parents and teachers on issues surrounding this very subject-including stressors, positive and negative coping skills, identifying at-risk behaviors, and how to get help. NewBridge is well prepared to bring this newly mandated training to New Jersey's teachers."

In addition to offering the state-mandated suicide prevention training programs, NewBridge offers a wide range of prevention and education offerings to teachers, parents and students. From programs that teach anti-bullying, coping skills and conflict resolution to stress management, substance abuse prevention, and more, these programs are available to any Northern New Jersey school and can be tailored to the group's specific needs.

To learn more about the suicide prevention training program for teachers or any other program, or to receive a comprehensive brochure of prevention programs offered by NewBridge, call Iannucci at (973) 839-2521, ext. 228, or visit www.newbridge.org.
