Bank Lends Hand to Nonprofits for Affordable Housing
The North Fork Foundation, the charitable arm of North Fork Bank, has awarded ten grants to nonprofits that support affordable-housing efforts in New Jersey.
"The high cost of housing in New Jersey poses challenges for residents across the state, but that challenge is especially acute for low and moderate income residents struggling to find decent, safe, affordable housing in this market," said Stacey Cooper, the foundation’s vice president.
Organizations that will receive the $10,000 grants include: Brand New Day in Elizabeth; Episcopal Community Development Inc. in Newark; New Bridge Services in Pompton Plains; La Casa De Don Pedro in Newark; New Jersey Community Development Corp. in Paterson; Unified Vailsburg Services Organization in Newark; Enable Inc. in Paterson; United Cerebral Palsy of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey Inc. in Chester; Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen in Perth Amboy; and Jersey City Episcopal Community Development Corp. in Jersey City.
North Fork Bank is a subsidiary of McLean, Va.-based Capital One Financial Corp. (NYSE: COF) and has 75 branches in New Jersey.
