Group receives grants for 2 youth programs

NewBridge Services Inc., a community provider of premier health and education programs and services, was recently awarded two $5,000 grants from private foundations in support of its innovative youth-oriented programs.

A $5,000 grant from the John Bickford Foundation will help support NewBridge Project 70001 Jobs Plus, a youth employment and education program for those who have dropped out of a traditional high school setting.

With nearly a 90 percent success rate, NewBridge 70001 Jobs Plus empowers, inspires and provides students with a chance to lead successful and productive lives by providing them with the opportunity to earn their diplomas and receive pre-employment training, life skills development, educational services, counseling and job search assistance.

A $5,000 grant from the Roberts Foundation will help support NewBridge Project REAL, a comprehensive mix of prevention and crisis intervention services that provides children with the information, tools and skills they need to be resilient, build self-esteem and develop good decision-making skills. Last year alone, more than 4,300 children benefited from Project REAL.

"Growing up in today's society is far more complex than years gone by, and children sometimes need a little help learning the skills that will enable them to become well-adjusted, confident and productive adults," said Robert L. Parker, executive director of NewBridge Services. "Thanks to the generous donations of private donors like the Roberts Foundation and the John Bickford Foundation, NewBridge is able to better meet the needs of the community by making these critical programs available to as many children as possible."

Those interested in making a tax-free donation or in volunteering their time to support NewBridge programs and services are asked to contact Nina McCormack at (973) 839-2521, ext. 420, or nmccormack@newbridge.org.
