NewBridge Services awarded $75,000 Grant
PEQUANNOCK - NewBridge Services, Inc., a community provider of behavioral health and education programs and services, has been awarded a $75,000 grant from United Way of Morris County to fund the first phase of its affordable housing development project.
"We are very excited that United Way has stepped forward with this leadership gift to help kick-start our affordable housing initiative," said Robert L. Parker, Executive Director, NewBridge. "Between this grant and the matching financial contribution from the state, NewBridge is working toward securing its first two properties to help our neighbors realize the American dream of living in their own home."
NewBridge prides itself on responding to the needs of the community and has heard the call for more affordable housing in New Jersey. Responding to the statewide effort to combat the state's housing crisis, NewBridge has taken an active role in providing affordable housing opportunities for those with disabilities, particularly those with special needs, as well as those with moderate and low incomes.
"United Way of Morris County is committed to improving the county's affordable housing situation and we are pleased to support NewBridge's efforts. This project is a concrete example of how nonprofits can work together to address the housing shortage," said John Franklin, Chief Executive Officer, United Way of Morris County.
NewBridge continues to advance its full-scale affordable housing development initiative through the creation of partnerships and securing of grant monies. Through these efforts, the agency is on its way toward reaching its goal of creating 100 new permanent, affordable housing units in Morris and Passaic counties in the next four years. The grant from United Way has provided valuable funding for key components of this initiative.
NewBridge's community-based housing program includes a continuum of services from residential care to permanent housing opportunities, which provide the appropriate level of assistance and independence to 100 individuals.
